Lister wins Miss Byrnes 2023
On January 21, Hayley Lister was crowned Miss Byrnes 2023 in the 59th annual Miss Byrnes High pageant.
Lister, a 16-year-old junior, said that going into the pageant, she hadn’t set high expectations.

On January 21, Byrnes High School held their annual Miss Byrnes Pageant at the District Five Fine Arts Center, where the Town of Duncan presented a $5,000 scholarship to the winner.

Payton Crook was crowned the 25th Miss Greer High School on Saturday. Crook, a junior, is a varsity cheerleader and the daughter of Brian and Tama Crook. Rounding out the top five were, from left: Madison Tipton - 4th runner up, Lilykate Barbare - 2nd runner up, Crook, Madison Harbin - 1st runner up, and Ellie Mason - 3rd runner up.
On February 7, Byrnes High School is hosting their own private blood drive for students and staff who want to donate blood.
Kelly Jewett, Health Occupations Students of America Advisor (HOSA) and biomedical science instructor, said Byrnes’ HOSA club is sponsoring the drive through The Blood Connection.

Ella McCallum- Honorable Mention in Ceramics and Glass for Orb Lantern
Nearly 100 students in the Byrnes High School band placed at the state or region level at the SCBDA (South Carolina Band Directors Association) All-Region and All-State Band auditions recently.
In 2017, Kimberly Burns joined Greer High School as a teacher of health science, and in November, she was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 semesters by the staff at GHS.
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Burns now calls Greer her home.
