This September, Riverside Middle and High schools are once again paying tribute to one of their own in their support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Riverside Middle Beta Club and staff will host a Spirit Week to raise funds for the cause.
As the lone survivor of a car accident that took the lives of two of his friends in the fall of 2000, Pierre Salmon spent many of the days that followed asking two simple questions.
“Why am I still here? Why didn’t you take me?”
Salmon, a 2000 graduate of North Greenville University, shared his story in a recent documentary.

In the winter of 2021, Northwood Middle was gifted the artwork from the Besharat Art Foundation of Atlanta, Georgia. The “Art in School” exhibition showcases portraits of renowned National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry.
Since its installation, many teachers have incorporated portraits into their curriculum.
The Greer High G-Force Marching Band will compete in the Greenville Exhibition on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Mauldin High.

to ‘Show Your Voice’
The National PTA is seeking entries for its 2022-2023 Reflections contest.
This year’s theme is “Show Your Voice!”
Students can submit work in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts.
Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year is still open at Lowcountry Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school serving students in grades K-12 across South Carolina.
Heading into its second-ever school year, Lowcountry Connections Academy currently serves roughly 350 students statewide.
Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees voted to waive the cost of meals for students who qualify for reduced-price meals.
These meals will be paid for through budget surpluses generated in the School Meal programs, not through local taxpayer funds.
