Districts react to statewide closure

Greenville County Schools and Spartanburg District Five schools are preparing to transition approximately 85,000 students from in-class instruction to at-home learning following the statewide closure of schools ordered this weekend by Governor Henry McMaster.
Meal options offered for affected students
To ensure the students of Greenville County schools continue to receive healthy and nutritious meals during the time schools are closed in response to COVID-19, Greenville County Schools will be providing breakfasts and lunches free of charge to anyone 18 and younger at 15 District locations Monday through Friday.

Students with disabilities can learn at home
In response to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the consequent school closures, Able SC has released a new program that allows students with disabilities to connect with one another and learn practical life skills online.

Church offering free prom dresses
Marathon Church in Greenville is hosting a Prom Dress Boutique for the community March 11, 12 and 14.
Students can pick out a dress free of charge.
Times for the event are March 11 and 12, 3-6 p.m. and March 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Mt. View to celebrate reading
Monday, March 2 is National Read Across America Day (RAAD), a nationwide event focusing on the importance of reading sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA).
Last year, the NEA estimated about 45 million people participated in RAAD and are wanting to expand that number.

RHS to hold talent
show Feb. 20
The annual Riverside’s Got Talent show will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m.
The show will feature a variety of acts including singing, dancing, acting, standup, comedy, instrumentalists, and more.
