The first time I saw Paul McCartney was 22 years ago, almost to the day, at Charlotte’s Blockbuster Pavilion. It was the final US date of his “New World” tour, and it was broadcast live nationwide on Fox. He was 51-years-old yet still astonishingly youthful and energetic, as he belted out over 30 songs in around two-and-a-half hours.
On a steamy Friday night, a solid crop of performers took the stage at Greer City Park to compete in the Greer Idol competition. Here is a brief recap of what they wore, performed and what the judges said. I’ve handicapped the odds for each contestant just for kicks.
