Making people happy.
That’s what motivates Shoppes on Trade Owner Shelly Jordan to greet each customer with a cheerful “hello” and a free taste of handmade chocolate.
Jordan, a licensed specialty chocolate manufacturer, has been hand making goodies for 15 years and has owned her business for a little over four years.
Veterans honored by GSP flight
Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport played host to the 18th Honor Flight from the Upstate on Saturday morning.
The day trip to Washington, D.C. allows veterans to see memorials established in their honor.
Tigerville Elementary students make a splash
Local families and community members were treated to a musical “Under the Sea,” as Tigerville Elementary students performed The Little Mermaid Monday night.
The production was led by music teacher Sherry Biondo, who directed a cast of third, fourth and fifth graders.
Local runner adds Boston Marathon to collection
DJ Jordan is collecting marathons.
Since 1996, he has run 23 of them in 16 different states, competing everywhere from Los Angeles, California to New York.
But until recently, his collection was missing one very important marathon-- Boston.
Greer Mayor honors mother with garden, designation
A recent landscaping project brought back fond memories for Greer Mayor Rick Danner.
Danner has been working in his back yard for the past couple of years, eventually installing a large flower garden that attracted butterflies and hummingbirds.
“My mother loved butterflies. They’re are special to my family,” Danner said.
NGU to grow programs at Tim Brashier campus in Greer
North Greenville University will grow its Greer campus from 400 to 800 students in the next five years through the addition of several programs.
Dr. Gene Fant, the university’s eighth president, updated local business owners of the campus’ progress during the Business and Breakfast event as part of NGU’s celebration of 125 years.
Volunteers work in Greer area during Hope Week
Volunteers are joining members of Fairview Baptist to complete projects around the Greer area during the church’s third annual Hope Week.
The event, which began as Nathan Brannon’s senior project at Greer Middle College, kicked off last Saturday with the second annual Egg Drop at Dooley Field. Projects then started on Monday.
