During the coaches pitch state finals last year at Victor Park, police officers were called to separate arguing parents.
"It was just nasty," said Steve Johnson, District 7 Administrator and a parent of a Blue Ridge softball player.
The feud, however, may be cooling. This summer, the District 7 11-12 softball all-stars, which includes five players from Greer Middle and five from Blue Ridge Middle, teamed up to capture the state title in Myrtle Beach. On Thursday, they will begin competing in the Southeast Regional in Warner Robbins, Ga.
The winner of that tournament will earn a spot in the World Series, Aug. 12-18 in Portland, Ore.
"It's been beautiful to see," Johnson said. "These are people who couldn't stand each other, and now are sitting at ball games together. They are going out to eat together. In the past, they didn't like being in the same place. Now, their children are spending the night with each other.
"It just goes to show that anyone can put their differences aside. It shows you that there isn't always the need to be at war."
