| Huge crowd cheer for Idol favorites Three contestants were eliminated from Greer Idol after the first week of performances. The field of singers is now down to nine. Two singers will be voted off Friday night.
Monte, who sang, "Use Somebody" and Tyson Fowler, who sang "Separate Ways", were eliminated after weekend voting. Being a no show for Friday's contest eliminated Derek Grogan. Final 14 contestants Brad Arrowood and Chris Solesbee withdrew before the competition began.
Contestants will choose songs from the 1970s and 1980s rock genre to showcase their talent during the contest this week. Greer Idol 4 is held during the intermission of the Tunes on Trade concert in downtown Greer. "Mark Roberts and Breeze" are scheduled to perform.
Crowds for the first concert were way beyond expectations, according to Robin Byouk, Greer Cultural Arts director.
