| Preisig, Blackwell in Greer Idol showdown
Krista Gibson Staff Reporter
On a sweltering evening in downtown Greer, with the crowd using their fan posters to move the air around their faces instead of to cheer, three semifinalists sang two songs in an effort to make it to the Greer Idol Season 4 finale this Friday.
Voters picked Brittany Blackwell and Jessica Preisig for the showdown, sending Carrie Vassey home.
This week, the duo will perform three songs before the audience gets to vote for one of them to be crowned the winner of the competition. They will sing a song that they choose, a song Greer Idol emcee Mike Lowery chooses and finally, both will perform the original Judy Garland version of "Over the Rainbow". Lowery said that since this is a singing competition, that version of the song from "The Wizard of Oz" is perfect for showcasing someone's singing voice.
