Carbon monoxide is a well-known silent killer.
On average, around 5,000 people in the U.S. receive treatment each year after being poisoned by the colorless, odorless gas.
Fortunately, for the Halkett family, a carbon monoxide detector alerted them to the danger in their home, possibly saving their lives.
