A November visit to speak on neighborhood safety to the senior citizens at the Needmore Community Center was supposed to be a routine assignment for City of Greer Police Sergeant Jeff Smith.
He arrived early, chatted with the group and began walking around the room while sharing the program as he was prone to do.
