Plans have been submitted for downtown Greer’s new Hampton Inn, which is slated to begin construction in 2019.

The hotel will be located at the corner of Jason Street and North Main Street, according to submitted documents. Floor plans include designs for four stories, along with 108 units and outdoor amenities such as a pool and a fire pit.

“Our goal is to have our hotel ready to go by the summer of 2020,” said Property Owner Yatish Patel.

More preparations need to be made before the ground can be broken, however.

“We’re waiting on one disconnect letter from CPW (before demolition begins),” said Ruthie Helms, Building Official.

A proposed parking deck will be located be hind the hotel next to Jason Street.

The projects will take place alongside Grace Church’s renovations and the city’s downtown streetscape project.

City staff members are recommending that the hotel and church coordinate walkways and lighting to match the  streetscape project.

“We’re happy to work with you all in making sure that is coordinated,” said Jeff Randolph, Business Operations Director for Grace Church. The church has obtained its interior demolition permit and is working towards having the first service by this coming summer.
