Generation Kid Strong opens doors in Greer

Generation Kid Strong, a new Greer nonprofit, officially opened its doors on Friday, offering a full slate of summer camps for children and parents in the area.

“It’s geared towards kids, but friendly for families,” said Founder Lisa Salas of the new facility. “All the equipment that we put up is built for men, women and children.

“It’s for all age groups, but our focus group is obviously the children, especially the prepubescent children,” she said.

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new business during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“We are very happy for them to be chamber members and for their new beautiful facility,” said Josh Shaffer, Director of Membership Development.

Salas, who grew up in Greer and attended Blue Ridge High School, has been working with training clients in Greenville.

“When I started training kids, it was in both Greenville and Greer,” Salas said. “We do after school programs for both.”

Salas and her husband have been going into daycares and after school programs for about three years.

“We keep getting asked, when are we actually going to have a facility,” Salas said. “My husband and I sat down, and we decided, let’s do it.”

The Salas chose a Greer location for a couple of reasons.

“Greer is growing,” Salas said. “Greer is a central location.”

Located at 209-D Riverside Court, Generation Kid Strong has activities such as yoga, hula hooping, obstacle courses, Zumba, functional training and more.
