The improvements to downtown Greer are not over just yet.

Keith Eades, owner and managing partner of Idea River Development, announced plans to construct a mixed-use development in downtown Greer. The project, which amounts to a $32 million investment, will bring more than 200 residential units, a standalone brewery and a restaurant.

It will be located at the corners of Main, Jason, and Cannon Streets with two L-shaped buildings and a central parking lot servicing the complex.

“We’re going to develop 240 upscale apartment units in downtown Greer,” Eades said. “This project is going to remove about 8-10 different buildings on the site.

“That’s a big project unto itself,” he said. “Many of those are older. Many of those have been abandoned. Many of those have environmental issues. All those things will be improved because of this new facility. We will be bringing almost 500 new people to live in downtown Greer.”

Eades said the commercial additions will bring jobs to Greer.

“That particular facility has already been leased,” Eades said. “We have a tenant, a local tenant. If I would tell you who it was, it wouldn’t surprise you—very successful here in the Greer community. It brings jobs to Greer. It brings people to Greer.”

The project is adjacent to the Greer City Park and includes seven parcels totaling 5.29 acres. This opportunity is part of a larger investment in support of the City of Greer’s CenterG project.

“Idea River Development, LLC is proud to partner with the City of Greer and participate in its continued transformation,” Eades said. “The architect is David Langley of Langley & Associates of Greer, and construction is anticipated to begin in fourth quarter of 2020.”

“The path is set,” City Administrator Ed Driggers said. “The course is charted. We know what we’re doing. We know how to get there. Now, it’s a matter of holding on for one terrific ride.

“As many of you know, I retire next Friday night,” he said. “Great things are still yet to come. We will be making more announcements soon.”
