Wellford denies request

Following concerns from the public, Wellford City Council unanimously denied a request to rezone 141 Parker Lane from R-1 Single Family Residential to I-1 Light Industry.

Glenn Barker, who owns 141 Parker Lane, has a wrecker service at the site.

“The place has been there since 1948,” Barker said.

BZA OKs church, ABC store

A church is making plans to open at the site of the former Fowler’s Dry Cleaner.

The Greer Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved a special exemption for church services in R-12, Single-Family Residential District Monday night.

The building is located at 210 Able Street near Brushy Creek Road.
