to hold ‘This is my city’
New Hope Freedom is having their “This Is My City” event on Friday, September 17, at 7 p.m., in the parking lot at 109 W. Wade Hampton Blvd, Greer.
Seating will be available, but bringing a lawn chair is recommended. Free food, worship, and a message is planned.

Regent Charlotte Koehler and members of the Joyce Scott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presented dinner items to the Greer Fire Department and breakfast to the Greer Police Department on Saturday, Sept. 11, to show appreciation to the community’s first responders.

Chamber names 42nd class

The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce recently announced the 42nd class of Leadership Greer.

The class began on Friday, September 3, with Orientation and an introduction at the Greer Chamber’s First Friday Network Lunch.

Dr. W. Burke Royster, Superintendent of Greenville County Schools (GCS), addressed Greer business leaders last Friday at the Greer Chamber’s monthly Network Lunch.

Superintendents discuss COVID-19

Spartanburg District Five Superintendent Randall Gary said more than 10 percent of staff members in his district have been absent each week due to COVID-19 cases and exposures.

Gary added that last week, the district’s student absentee rate was nearly 20 percent, urging parents to have their children wear masks.

Duncan teen receives 20 years

A Duncan teen received a 20-year prison sentence last Wednesday for breaking into a Startex home and stealing five guns.

Jaden I. Gary, 19, was found guilty of first-degree burglary, grand larceny and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
