Duncan’s Shirley Clopton recalls battle with COVID

It’s been a rough start to 2021 for Duncan Councilmember Shirley Clopton, who spent New Year’s Eve in the hospital fighting COVID-19.

“Before I went into the hospital, I felt bad,” Clopton said. “I had some of the symptoms that they talked about, fever and things like that, so I decided to have a COVID test at Pelham right here on 14.

The Upstate SC Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund, represented by Matt Hamby of the Greer Police Department, presented a check of an undisclosed amount to Sarah Jumper, wife of Sgt. Jumper of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

South Carolina Law Enforcement officers came together to support the family of Sgt. Conley Jumper last week.

Jumper died during a traffic stop along Interstate-85 in October of 2020 following an altercation with a suspect.

A 28-year law enforcement veteran, Jumper was well known in the community.

Restaurant reopens at GSP
