Changes are being made to the recycling center and curbside trash collection in the City of Greer, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
ACE Environmental, Inc., the City’s contractor for curbside trash collection, is reducing crew size in an effort to continue their operations throughout the crisis.
The City of Greer is planning to hold virtual meetings for the foreseeable future.
The city will also be waiving late fees for certain taxes or business license renewals paid after the due date.
The Towns of Lyman and Duncan are also going to be holding virtual meetings.
During a special called meeting last Thursday, four of the seven members of Lyman Town Council who were present unanimously approved two emergency ordinances.
Greer City Council voted 4-3 to hold over a second and final reading of an ordinance to rezone property on Gibbs Shoals Road for redevelopment.
The ordinance would rezone 1940 Gibbs Shoals Road from I-1 Industrial to DRD (Design Review District).

The order was issued on Monday as a response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and includes closures of the state’s beaches, rivers and other waterways.

The VESper, an expansion device that allows a single ventilator to support up to four patients, has received authorization for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration.
Portions of East Poinsett Street and North Main Street will be closed this weekend for road work.
Sossamon Construction crews are in the process of installing new crosswalks as part of the City of Greer’s CenterG project.
Work will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, and all roads are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday.

Candidate filing has closed for the June 9 primary in Spartanburg County.
