Mark Hopper will serve as Greer’s District 3 councilman after defeating Andrew Hopkins 138-73 in the city’s only contested race during last week’s general election.
Uncontested candidates who were reelected included: Mayor Rick Danner, Councilman Jay Arrowood, Councilman Wryley Bettis and Greer CPW Commissioner Gene Gibson.

Lyman to hold Holiday Fair
The Town of Lyman is holding a Holiday Fair on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Lyman Event Center at Pacific Place.
The newly renovated Greer Library re-opened last Sunday.
“Greer is changing drastically. This is actually one of the busiest branches because it borders Spartanburg and Greenville counties,” said Jimmy Wooten, community engagement manager for the library.

Doris McLallen started driving for the Road to Recovery program in July of 2014.
Since then, she has driven a patient to their treatment 250 times over the past five years.
“It’s a great program,” McLallen said. “It really is a needed program, and we’re very much in need of more volunteers. The list of needed rides is long.”
The Slater-Marietta Area Community Resource Fair will offer jobseekers immediate access to both employers on site and computer access to almost 10,000 currently advertised job openings in Greenville County.
