The City of Greer is reducing its downtown fire zone district, moving from C-1 zoning to a specific geographical area.
Greer City Council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance to amend the boundaries of the fire zone district at its meeting last Tuesday.
A local resident is asking the City of Greer to look into the laws for shooting off firecrackers following a recent occurrence in her Riverside Townes neighborhood.
Gloria Holland said the incident in question made her go to police.
Greer Community Ministries (GCM) added two new team members last week. Shelly Bierwiler will join the nonprofit as the events coordinator and Zach Holcombe will serve as GCM’s new accountant.
Contractors with the Greer Commission of Public Works (CPW), such as Hydro Structures, will be working in the Apalache/Crestview Hills, Victor Mill and Greer Mill areas for the next three weeks.

Greer Relief’s Christmas Morning Shoppe, now in its third year, will run from Dec. 10-19. The program helps families provide for their children at Christmas time, while providing classes to help them with everyday life.
