A downtown business owner is planning to upgrade his storefront thanks to a program offered by the City of Greer.

James Carter, Owner of Empire LTD on Trade Street, has submitted renovation plans for his business, taking advantage of the city’s match for the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority’s Facade Improvement Program (FIP).

Walkout raises safety concerns

An expected student-led walkout at high schools around the nation has local administration officials concerned about safety.

The event, set for Wednesday at 10 a.m., is designed to draw attention to gun violence in schools. It comes as a result of a February mass shooting in Parkland, Florida which claimed 17 lives.
