Barbara M. Burns

Barbara Mary Burns, loving wife of R. David Burns and mother of Peter Burns (Gloriela), Tony Burns (Kim), Janine Barger (Steve) and Richard Burns, passed away on August 24, 2018.

Born in Perth, Western Australia, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Alma Bruce Franks.  Barbara and husband David moved to the United States in 1967, and retired to Greer, SC in 1992.  Though the U.S. was her home, Barbara’s heart remained in Australia. Barbara loved volunteering at Greer Community Ministries, her book club, and spending time with her children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her love and kindness lives on in each of us.

Mrs. Burns was predeceased by one brother, Donald Franks, and one sister, Ailsa Edwards.

We are so grateful to the staff and administration of Rolling Green Village, who took such wonderful care of our mother (and family) during her final years.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018  at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Greer, SC conducted by Father Mike Schnatterly.

Visitation will be held following the service in the church parish hall.

The families are at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation www.alzfdn.org or Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org.
