Doris Elenor Haggin
Doris Elenor Haggin, formerly of Helena, Montana and Greer, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, on April 24, 2019. Doris battled Alzheimers and Dementia and had lived at Mountain Home Health Facility in Hendersonville, North Carolina for the past three years.
Doris was born February 20, 1936, in Aberdeen, Washington to Bernice and Glen Hart. She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1955 and worked for the Bell Telephone Company as an operator.
She married Bill Haggin, February 17, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bill was in the Air Force and they lived in places throughout the world, finally settling down in Montana after he retired. Together they had two daughters and were married 51 years before heart failure took Bill and left Doris a widow in 2010.
Doris worked at the 1st National Bank for many years in Helena and then at Macys in Greenville, South Carolina. She made many good friends throughout her life. All of whom had a special place in her heart. She loved to laugh, play board games and go to lunch with her friends. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Becky (Jerry) George and Jennifer Wilson, both of Helena; grandsons Casey George of Bozeman, Montana, and Brady Wilson of Greer, South Carolina; and granddaughter Ashley Wilson of Greer.
We are comforted with the knowledge that she no longer struggles with the devastating effects of her disease and is once again able to look down upon us with recognition and understanding of how much she was loved and will be missed by those of us she left behind.
We would very much like to thank Mountain Home for their excellent care and the Four Seasons Hospice Service for being with Mom during her final hours and making her transition as painless as possible.
Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
