Gladys V. Grubbs

Gladys Vaughn Grubbs, 92, widow of James Cecil Grubbs, Sr., passed away October 11, 2018 at her home.

A native of Oconee County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joel Anderson Vaughn and Ruby Holden Vaughn, a retired employee of J.P. Stevens, Dunean Plant and a member of Pelham First Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, James C. Grubbs, Jr.; one daughter, Sherry Walden both of Greer; five grandchildren, Joy Taylor (Scott), Lisa Rollins (Audy), Chrissy Grubbs, April Raper (Rob) and Hope Poole (Rob); nine great-grandchildren, Cassidy Thornton (Ray), Devin Gilreath (Angel), Amae Gilreath (finance’ Trent), Aubrey Rollins, Cole Taylor, Alyssa Joy Poole, Emily Rollins, Charlie Poole and Holden Raper; and one great-great-grandson, Barrett “Bear” Thornton.

She was also predeceased by daughter-in-law, Cathy Grubbs; son-in-law, Charlie Walden; four sisters; and two brothers.

Graveside services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. Patrick Clark and Rev. Chad Hastings.

Pallbearers were Scott Taylor, Audy Rollins, Rob Raper, Devin Gilreath, Cole Taylor and Ray Thornton.

Visitation was held Sunday at the cemetery following the service.

The family is at the home of the daughter, Sherry Walden, 2045 Gibbs Shoals Road, Greer, SC 29650.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Crescent Hospice, Tonya, Tracy and Barbara for their compassionate care of Mrs. Grubbs.
