James Herbert Hammond, 84, passed away July 22, 2018.

 

A native of Greenville County, son of the late Thomas Alexander and Pauline Duncan Hammond, he was a U.S. Army Veteran having served as a radio communications specialist, a retired employee of Johnson Controls, a member of Locust Hill Baptist Church, and an avid golfer and bowler.

 

Surviving are two sons, James David Hammond (Aimee) and John Thomas Hammond, all of Rock Spring, Georgia; a daughter, Linda Hammond O’Connor (Paddy), of Brooksville, Florida; two sisters, Nancy Hammond Butler, of Travelers Rest, and Linda (Polly) Hammond Worthy, of Atlanta, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Philip Daniel Hammond and Kerry Alma O’Connor Shaw (Nathan).

 

Mr. Hammond was predeceased by his wife and mother of his children, Alma Bartz Hammond; one brother, Thomas Hammond; and two sisters, Martha Hammond Brown and Helen Hammond Huff. 

 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Locust Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at The Wood Mortuary.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Locust Hill Baptist Church, 5534 Locust Hill Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
