John ‘Sonny’ Kirby

John E. “Sonny” Kirby, 76, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.

A native of Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Lewis and Grace Sudduth Kirby, a retired employee of Greenville County Road and Bridge Department and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Carolyn Wilson Kirby; two sons, John Kirby of the home and Brian Kirby of Greer; two step-sons, Danny Waldrop and Lin Wilson both of Marietta; two brothers, James Kirby of Taylors and Larry Kirby of Lyman; two sisters, Myra Howard of Taylors and Naomi Green of Greer; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda J. Kirby, a son, Wendell Kirby, and a brother, Donald Lee Kirby.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Eric Davis.  Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Garrett, Coby Garrett, Chris Partain, Elijiah Martinez, Roger Edens and David Meadows.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary.

The family will be at their respective homes.
