John A. Jones

John Allan Jones went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017.

He was born Aug. 30, 1940 in Greenville County, the only son of John B. Jones, Jr. and Janie Cox Jones.

John leaves behind his grieving family who loves him dearly; his wife of 56 years Almeda Maye Grogan Jones; daughter Crystal Hairston and husband, Greg; granddaughter, Jessica Hairston Smith and husband Josh; great-grandson Braden; daughter, Allyson Sumner and husband Mark; grandchildren Danielle, Noah and Joshua. John is also survived by his sisters, Donna Petersen and Andrea Shirley.

John has now joined his infant daughter, Angela Lynne, beloved son Michael Alan and precious granddaughter Stephanie Nicole Hairston in their heavenly home.

John retired from Winn-Dixie Warehouse after 38 years, was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, and a U.S. Army Veteran.  He loved the outdoors, gardening, yard work and his animals.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at Fairview Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hairston, Mark Sumner, Josh Smith, Jim Burnett, Raymon Brown and Jim Eleazer.

In remembrance of John, The Jim Eleazer Sunday School class will sit with the family.

Burial to follow the service at Hillcrest Memory Garden.
