MSgt.  Stanley John Cantrell, Sr., 94, gently departed this earth to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

A native of Henderson County, North Carolina, son of the late Willis Ezell and Pearl Brown Cantrell, he was a retired employee of Greenville Steel, a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran and a member of Lee Road Baptist Church. Stanley served his Lord faithfully, his country loyally and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, devoted Christian and man of honor.  His generous, loving spirit and his walk through life with the Lord was as beautiful as the love he displayed for his family, his country and his Lord.  Stanley’s journey through life and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Saxon Cantrell of the home; two sons, S. John Cantrell, Jr. (Susan) of King, North Carolina and Michael James Cantrell (Deborah) of Greenville; two daughters, Marilyn Cantrell Myers (Edward) of Charleston and Linda Cantrell Cunningham (Dan, Jr.) of Taylors; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and a special caregiver, Luz E. Adorna.

Mr. Cantrell was predeceased by a son, Allen Ross Cantrell.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Todd Stewart and Dr. Bill Hightower.   Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m. Saturday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home.
