Rosie Shelnutt

Rosie V. Howard Shelnutt, 93, of 1407 Hwy 11 passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Shelnutt and the daughter of the late James Henry Howard and Martha Lindsey Howard.  She was a member of Glassy Mountain Baptist Church and a charter member of United Daughters of the Confederacy.  She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, James Nesbitt Allen of Landrum and Randall Allen of Greer; two daughters, Azalee Allen Hawkins and Deborah Shelnutt Whitman both of Landrum; six grandchildren, Revonda Tucker, Anita Wilson, Gary Allen, Michael Hawkins, Dana Taylor and Jenna O’Shields; 11 great-grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Heather Hannon,  Amber Tucker, Matthew Allen, Devin Hawkins, Anthony Hawkins, Jarrid Wilson, Caleb Waters, Ethan Clayton, Noah Taylor and Eli Taylor; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee Hannon, Corbin Smith and Kaden Tucker.  She was predeceased by a son, Manuel Allen, eight brothers and sisters, and first husband James Jesse Allen.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Glassy Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Robbie Dodd officiating. The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.  

The interment was in the church cemetery.

The family is at her great-granddaughter’s home, Heather Hannon, 6 Barnett St., Lyman, SC.
