Talmadge ‘Slab’ Campbell
Talmadge Douglas “Slab” Campbell, 86, passed away January 7, 2018.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late George Henry and Earline Blanton Campbell, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, a retired employee of Exide Battery and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He served on Greer City Council for 4 years and served on Chairman Board of Adjustment and Appeals over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta Jean Lister Campbell of the home; a daughter, Charlotte Thompson Trusty (Joel) of Greer; a son, Douglas Campbell (Pat) of Greer; five grandchildren, Ashlie Thompson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Brad Thompson of Greer, Brent Thompson (Elizabeth) of Greer, Talmadge Douglas Campbell II (Shanna) of Greer and Candace Wilhoit of Lyman; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Campbell was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Odell Moseley and Dr. Tommy Wallace. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 2-3:15 p.m. Wednesday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Charlotte Trusty.
