Virginia W. Shirley

Virginia Ward Shirley, 86, widow of Paul Edward Shirley, Sr., passed away June 14, 2018.

A native of Greenville County, daughter of the late Lewis and Clela Whitener Ward, she was a homemaker, a member of Greer First Baptist Church and Southern Bell Telephone Pioneer, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Surviving are a son, Paul “Eddie” Shirley, Jr. (Sue), of Greenville; a sister, Nancy Fieneman, of Hohenwald, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Alan Shirley (Beth) and Marijke Posch (Owen); and one great-granddaughter, Anna Meike Posch.

Mrs. Shirley was predeceased by a son, Kenny Shirley, and four brothers, Lewis Ward, Jack Ward, Richard Ward and Paul Alan Ward.

A memorial service was held 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Greer First Baptist Church, conducted by Mrs. Dottie Bryson.

Honorary escort was the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class.

Visitation was held 3-4:45 p.m. Sunday at the church.
