According to a statement from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the Publix on Highway 290.  The driver, later identified as Emma Candler Barnette, refused to stop.  A short pursuit began until the deputy terminated the chase due to traffic and weather conditions.
