The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Gang Unit made two arrests on August 31 for various drugs, thousands of dollars in cash, and a handgun.

Investigators with the gang unit arrested Patrick Antione Smith, 36, of Spartanburg, and Tyrone Van Ellis, 57, of Spartanburg.

Zyrian Izae Stroble, 18, of Spartanburg, was arrested last March by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) for 16 various offenses involving the sexual abuse of minor children. On Monday, an additional 16 warrants were served on Stroble for numerous counts of sex crimes and more.

The month of August was busy for Wellford Police Department (WPD), according to their monthly wrap-up report.

In August, WPD reported more than 300 traffic and criminal citations and made 33 total arrests.

Marcel Larville Alston, 30, of Spartanburg, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for murdering his mother, Audra Rochelle Brown. He pleaded guilty on August 28 to Murder, Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Violent Crime.
