After two tournament losses where her team was hardly competitive, Byrnes girls basketball coach Missy Fowler simply wanted her girls to “show up” for their third game.
The Lady Rebels faced off against Knott Central (KY) in the consolation game at the Smoky Mountain Classic tournament in Gatlinburg, TN.
Mac Brown is a senior guard for the Greer Yellow Jackets. Brown is known on the court for his impressive three-point shooting ability, and off the court, he’s known for his outgoing and friendly personality. Greer head coach Devin Liferidge called Brown “a well-rounded kid,” and one of his “all-time favorite” players he’s coached.
If Greer Middle College basketball needed a litmus test for its potential this season, it came at the recent Poinsettia Classic tournament at Greenville High.
For the first time in program history, GMC took down a 5-A team, knocking off J.L. Mann 65-59 in the tournament’s opening round.
Greer Middle College star point guard Musa Muriithi recently announced his commitment to continue his basketball career at Spartanburg Methodist College.
Muriithi is averaging 25 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game so far as a senior.
SCHSL recently announced preliminary reclassifications for high school athletics in South Carolina. Several Greer-area schools will be feeling the effect.
