Greer CPW is replacing water lines on Trade Street ahead of the city’s Streetscape project, which is set to break ground on Jan. 15 at The Davenport.
The utility company began its work Monday, replacing lines between the 100 through 300 blocks of Trade Street.
True freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence won his first National Championship at Clemson Monday night, dominating the Tide with 347 passing yards and three touchdowns. On the year, Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns on 259 completions.

Byrnes High to induct hall of fame
Byrnes High will induct five into its inaugural Block B Athletic Alumnia Association Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 12, 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Inductees were chosen for the impact they had on D5 schools and the community.
You saw the touchdowns and highlight plays on Friday nights, but you probably didn’t see what made those moments possible for Dre Williams.
“I work when nobody else is looking—when people are sleeping,” the senior running back said. “I take stuff that I’m not good at and focus in on it. That’s how I approach the game.”
The best days are ahead for senior Greer wide receiver Braxton Collins, who recently signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Old Dominion.
Collins went down with an injury during the middle of the season, but returned to help his team make a state championship run.
The North Greenville football team inked one signee during the early signing period. Transfer Logan Byrd, of Warner Robins, Georgia, was ranked the number 15 pro-style quarterback coming out of high school in 2016. He originally signed with the University of North Carolina.
