Crusaders earn All-Conference

Three North Greenville football players earned Gulf South All-Conference nods this week.

Defensively the Crusaders are represented by Seth Laughter and Aaron Watson, who were both first team All-Conference nominees while Dimajiay Rooks earned the program’s first offensive nod with a second team All-Conference appearance.

The Yellow Jackets scored four times in the first quarter against Pickens last Friday, advancing to the second round of the Class AAAA state playoffs.

Greer blasted off the starting line in the Class AAAA state playoffs, crushing Pickens in the process, 35-6, at Dooley Field on Friday night. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improved to 10-1 overall and vaulted into the second round to host York.

Lions knock off Eastside

Daniel ran away from third-seeded Eastside last Thursday (49-20), ending the Eagles’ 2018 playoff campaign in round one.

Junior quarterback Tyler Venables and a strong showing by the Daniel defense gave the Lions their first playoff win since 2013.

Eastside will open the postseason at Daniel this Friday.

Eastside is hoping to channel its 2017 success this Friday, as the Eagles get set to visit Daniel in the first round of the Class AAAA state playoffs.

The Eagles, who made a trip to the state quarterfinals last year, are coming off a 7-3 year after picking up recent losses to Greer and Greenville.

It was the team’s motto throughout the preseason, and it continues to be their motto as the 2018 postseason gets underway on Friday.
