Turnquist leads Eagles to victory

Eastside quarterback Drake Turnquist has been waiting for his offense to put together a complete game, and it finally did last Friday at Wade Hampton.

The Eagles notched a 23-20 victory over the Generals, earning the teams first win of the season.  

Turnquist ran for a touchdown and threw for another during the win.

Tigers blanked on road

Blue Ridge did not cross the goal line during a road trip to Toccoa, Georgia Friday, falling to Stephens County 28-0.

The Tigers are now 2-1 heading into region play.

“We’ve played three [Class] AAAA teams, which was some tough competition,” head coach Shane Clark said. “We hope that will help us out in region play.”

Riverside came up short last Friday night against Woodmont, falling 21-14.

Riverside falls in final minutes

A late go-ahead score buried Riverside Friday during a 21-14 loss to Woodmont.

The game, which was delayed for nearly an hour due to inclement weather, gave the Warriors their second loss of the season.

“We had our chances going back and forth,” Smith said. “We just ran out of time. I felt like we gave the game away.”

Late-race move sets up win

For Brad Keselowski, this year’s chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup started the same way it did in 2012—with a victory at Chicagoland Speedway.

Clearly, Keselowski would love to see the chase end the same way it did two years ago—with a series championship.

Crusaders fall to Terriers

North Greenville dropped a messy, rain-delayed 42-27 loss to Wofford College last Saturday night, moving the Crusaders’ record to 1-1 on the season.

The Crusader defense forced Wofford into a three-and-out on their first drive of the game and North Greenville quickly drove down the field on an eight-play, 70-yard scoring drive.
