Eastside rolled past Westwood at home last Friday, advancing to the third round to take on South Pointe.

Eastside made a statement during its second round matchup with Westwood, topping the No. 4 seed 48-15 and earning a date with South Pointe in the Upper State semifinal.

“It was a huge win for our program,” head coach Dan Morgan said. “Our defense played really well. We needed this one and are so happy for our players and coaches.”

The combination of high stakes and a big rivalry is expected to fill the Dooley Field stands Friday night when Greer hosts Greenville in the third round of the Upstate 4-A playoffs, a battle of evenly-matched teams that are 11-1 on the season.

Qua White and the Greer offense had plenty of success against Daniel last Friday. The Jackets will take on Aiken in the second round.

A number one seed should defeat a number four, and that’s how it went Friday night at Dooley Field where Greer tamed Daniel’s Lions, 42-7, to advance to the second round of the Class AAAA football playoffs.

Byrnes falls to Hanna, 57-7

No team has been able to slow down TL Hanna this season, and that didn’t change last Friday, as Byrnes dropped its playoff opener to the Yellow Jackets, 57-7.

Hanna will move on to play Greenwood in the second round after ending the Rebels season at 7-4.
