Greer CPW’s Alison Rauch is one of 75 hikers planning to make a 28.3-mile trek in November to help raise funds for a South Carolina nonprofit.

The Trailblaze Challenge supports Make-A-Wish, an organization granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Greer PD to host softball tourney

The Greer Police Department will host its sixth annual Upstate SC Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament on August 26 and 27, raising funds for the families of fallen officers.

Public safety agencies from across the Upstate will compete in the event, with all proceeds going to the cause.

From my vantage point – the sofa – roughly 300 fans turned out to watch the Brickyard 400 at venerable Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 21 … and half of them left when Dale Earnhardt Jr., who will retire from NASCAR competition at the end of the 2017 season, was forced out of the race thanks to a blown radiator.
