Byrnes falls to Hillcrest

The Rebels came up just shy of advancing to the state semifinals last week, falling in a tight contest to Hillcrest, 68-62.

The fourth-seeded Byrnes boys’ basketball team end a playoff run that saw two wins over higher-seeded opponents.

Last week, the Rebels were a few more ticks away from defeating another one.

Eastside’s Clay Walker powered his team to another state championship last Wednesday during a 47-21 win over Socastee. Walker is wrestling for his fourth individual state title this week.

Back-to-back champions

Last week was a lot like déjà vu for the Eastside wrestling team.

The Eagles captured their second consecutive state championship with a 47-21 win over Socastee. The win marks another milestone for a program that has become a dynasty.
