Tiara Cox headlined North Greenville’s week at the Conference Carolinas Champions with the team’s lone conference championship at the JDL Fast Track.
“Saturday, we are there for one, just one, only one.”
Eastside Wrestling Head Coach Jack Kosmicki stated these words following a decisive win over Westside in the Upperstate Championship Wednesday night in Anderson.
A shot at the 4A Region 2 championship was on the line as Greer and Riverside met Friday night. Both teams were tied with Wade Hampton with all teams holding a 5-2 conference record. Wade Hampton visited Eastside with that game holding championship ramifications for the Generals.
The final game of the regular season featured two of the top teams in AAAA Region 2. Greer and Riverside entered the contest with a 5-2 region record, so the winner secured second place in the final standings.
All the training and competition comes down to this moment in time in high school wrestling as each individual strives to move on to the ultimate goal of being named a champion.
On Wednesday night, step one was earning the title of Region Champion.
The Lady Rebels basketball team looked to earn their fifth win in a row as they entertained Boiling Springs on January 31.
The Lady Rebels exploded out of the gates to take a 20-5 first quarter lead.
They continued their hot shooting to extend their lead to 40-20 at the half.
Langston Scott of Eastside High signed with Lenoir-Rhyne University on National Signing Day to play football.
“I have dreamed of this since I was young. I am ready to get up there and start working,” Scott said.
Scott is the son of Gregg and Cheryl Scott.
“After Tuesday’s loss I was proud of how our kids responded. Certainly our most complete game of the year.”
The words of Head Basketball Coach Devin Liferidge summed up the week for the Greer Yellow Jackets.
On Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets fell to Wade Hampton 74-65, and on Friday night they played their best against Eastside.
