Every kid receives the same warning, but nobody ever believes it.
“You’re going to be just like your father…”
On February 29, North Carolina played what turned out to be one of the final live sporting events.
I say final because I’m not sure if we’ll ever see sports again. That’s how it feels, at least.
I was very jazzed up for this game. My beloved Tar Heels had to win or their chances at making the NCAA Tournament would be over.
It’s been a little more than four years since Nathan Moore’s untimely passing, and his legacy is continuing to grow.
Athletes, coaches and even sports journalists (sometimes) are often told to “stick to sports.”
It’s usually related to political discussions. Sports fans who say this just want to watch a game and ignore things like that.
Coach Perry loved people.
I can’t think of a better, more fitting way to describe him.
He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his players. He loved his coaches.
He loved Greer.
And he would tell you.
It’s time to stop saying sports aren’t important.
People have gotten used to that kind of talk over the past three or four months, and it’s getting old.
"Charlie no like it.”
These are my 2-year-old’s most frequently used words.
This is how Penny tries to manipulate her way out of sharing something. Yummy popsicle? Charlie no like it. Shiny, new fire truck toy? Charlie no like it. Television show that Penny doesn’t agree with? Charlie no like it.
They go to work early. They stay late. They look after your children and spend countless hours finding ways to better educate them. They sacrifice time with their own families so they can spend time with yours.
We owe a lot to our teachers, and we should show them how much we appreciate them this week.

In fact, when I was just a lad, I participated in a lot of high school football practices.
