Blame Cannada

Ready to race

Shannon and I have been watching The Amazing Race in our spare time.

We’re big Survivor fans and have followed The Amazing Race for some time now, but only recently have we been exploring old seasons of the show.

We’re mainly watching this show so that we can prepare to be on this show.

Taking a stand

My short time on this earth and exploration of the female mind has taught me one sure thing about women.

They love to have their picture taken. Like, they love it, love it.

And any wife with kids will tell you that they never get good pictures of their family, even though the opposite is almost always true.

Bitter sweet

Saturday night Billy would have lit this column on fire and said some thing he would’ve likely come to regret.

Fortunately for everyone reading this, my Tar Heels lost in devastating fashion Monday in the championship and I’ve been forced to come back down to earth.

Doomsday is here.

For the first time in an NCAA Tournament game, the Tar Heels and Blue Devils will face each other on Saturday night.

A trip to the title game is on the line.

This rivalry, which many will note “always delivers,” has never had higher stakes.

By the time you’re reading this, North Carolina is likely on the eve of its Sweet 16 appearance and I’m likely still angry about the Baylor game.

Never in my 32 short years of living have I seen an officiating crew try to pull what was pulled on Saturday.

Welcome back!

One of the greatest sporting events of the year returns to Greenville this weekend, but we should remain focused on what truly matters: giving Coach K the honor and recognition he deserves in his final NCAA Tournament.

Trust me, you don’t want to see how mad he gets when you don’t honor him.

Since I’ve finally stopped laughing, I now have some words to say about the North Carolina/Duke game on Saturday.

There’s actually a lot on my mind after this one, but if I had to sum up my message to Duke fans, coaches and players, it would simply be this: you should’ve known better.

Tee ball

So I’m a tee ball dad now.

Penny had her first practice on Saturday, and I don’t remember anybody telling me how funny tee ball is.

I will say, I’m not a great tee ball dad so far. My four-year-old arrived about 15 minutes late to her first practice because I thought it was at 10 and it was at 9.

There are two things in life that all human beings have no problem critiquing—movie previews and the “Big Game” (Sorry, guys I don’t want to be sued).

You’ve done both. I know you have.

Green light means go

About a month ago, my wife and I were sleeping soundly in our bedroom at about 3 a.m. when someone began to rip down our door.

Shannon started smacking me immediately.

“Billy! BIlly! Wake up!”

I was awake.

I heard the sound, too.

But I could see something she couldn’t see.
