Blame Cannada

If you needed one more reason to think there are a “bunch of idiots” working over at ESPN, here it comes…

Last week, the worldwide leader ranked Kobe Bryant the 40th (yep, you read that right…40th) best player in the NBA.

Well, I know I’m dying… but I think I’m dying sooner than expected.

A few weeks ago, while putting up a glorious new basketball hoop in my driveway, I bruised or broke a couple of ribs.

A few weeks into the season and my wife has yet to renounce football. All signs say she’s getting close, but the day has not yet come.

I’m an avid football guy. I can be happy watching just about any form of the sport, but Shannon doesn’t get it.

And believe me, I’ve tried to explain it to her.  

Thirteen years ago, our nation changed forever.

It blows my mind it has been that long. My wife, a fifth grade teacher, is currently teaching a group of kids that weren’t even alive when the World Trade Center buildings came crashing down on September 11, 2001.

It was a horrifying day. More than 2,700 people lost their lives.

I owe you Gamecock fans an apology. It was my fault South Carolina performed so poorly last Thursday night in the season opener.

I feel bad.

This was a USC team with a lot of promise and an impressive preseason ranking. I ruined it.
