Q: I’m a senior in high school here in Arkansas, and I think I want to study business in college. I’ve gotten an unusual offer from a small, out-of-state school. It revolves around a $3,000 student loan program, where the loan converts to a scholarship if I maintain a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.
Call it what you want. We, as a country, have made a mess! We have created so many “entitlements” we are crippling and causing harm to our society and to those we seek to assist.
When I saw the editorial cartoon in the January 25, 2017 issue of the Greer Citizen, at first I was very upset and ready to cancel my subscription. This political cartoon demeans women. But then I thought about it.

Q: My husband was recently laid off, and he has $229,000 in a 401(k). He has been told that he should roll it into a hybrid annuity. Is this a good idea?
DR: Absolutely not! It sounds to me like he’s been talking to an insurance agent instead of an investment advisor.
There’s no reason to put a 401(k) into an annuity.

Q: Why do y’all keep throwing that paper in my yard?
A: We are convinced that a small green bag has never caused so much of a stir as the one you frequently find in your driveway.
The Greer community lost a good one early Tuesday morning when Tony Tipton, Jr died at the tender age of 54. Tony was a Christian man that had professed his faith & trust in Jesus Christ, so we know where he is. One can only imagine Tony’s mansion in heaven will certainly sit on a black and gold street.
