The brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform deserve our honor and our kept promises. South Carolina’s 400,000 veterans rely on the services provided by the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston and the 11 community-based outpatient facilities across the state.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

The Greer Council of Garden Clubs (Azalea, Camellia and Primrose) is participating in “Historic Trees for Historic Places,” which is the major project of The Garden Club of South Carolina, Inc.  

The Greer Council is asking for help from the Greer public to find and document significant trees and historic places in and around Greer.

This past week Greer lost another icon. J. Van Collins was a friend of mine, unlike most others.

Read the June 25, 2014 “Defining America” insert.  Excellent layout and articles. The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) ad was located perfectly on page 15 under a piece written about Preston Johnson. The Editorial page reflected a balance between three local veterans and the national scene that was seamless.

Greer’s Relay for Life includes months of planning and hard work. I would like to thank Gina Miller, Julie Barnes and those on the Relay committee for their efforts in organizing this important event.
