As Emma Watson so beautifully and tactfully pointed out, feminism isn’t merely a woman’s fight regarding women’s issues. Feminism is about gender equality, and that swings both ways. Being the ‘bigger person’ — it’s not something I’ve mastered. Even as an adult I’ve never been certain why I have to choose to be the bigger person rather than just giving someone a piece of my mind.
To say I’m not “outdoorsy” is probably an understatement. I enjoy the outdoors. I like hiking, running, soaking in some sun at the beach and camping, but even in all those instances, I like certain amenities — like music, a beach chair, actual showers and bathrooms, and in my most recent debacle clothes.
It’s evident several procedures in place at council meetings, whether by state law or local ordinance, give residents the appearance of power without any of the actual clout.
Solutions aren’t easily found but through innovative thinking, rare projects resolving multiple problems come to fruition. The Independent Project and the K9s for Warriors organization both accomplish exactly that.
