Greer City Council recognized three Riverside High students as winners of the Black History Month essay contest during last week’s regular council meeting. Winners were, from left: Naomi Wright (1st place with an essay about Mae Carol Jemison), Dawson Leipprandt (2nd place with an essay about W.E.B. DuBois), and Emma Knous (3rd place with an essay about Cheryl White). The students wrote 450-500 word essays that celebrated and honored their African-American heroes.

Virtual Student Summit set for April 17
A Virtual Student Summit hosted by Clemson University’s Office of College Preparation & Outreach will take place on Saturday, April 17, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. through Zoom.
Keynote speaker is Bakari Sellers.
The event is open to all 7th-12th graders.
