Comfort

As the world changes around us, let us find comfort in the unchanging truths found in the Word of God.

Family gatherings may look a little different this year.

Some may be missing loved ones while others may not be able to have everyone gathered around the same table.

May we be kind and compassionate this holiday season.

Appreciating differences

While God created everyone in His image, He did not make us all the same.

The Creator knit each of us together in our mothers’ wombs with unique features, gifts and talents.

In His infinite wisdom, the Lord God Almighty made some to be leaders, some to be teachers, and some to be writers.

Thank you for serving

Thank you, veterans, who have been leaving family, friends and comfort to put yourself in harm’s way for this country.

Thank you, police officers, who have been seeking to keep the peace by intervening among those who are hurting themselves and others.

Jesus

Jesus, who lived a perfect life, is the one and only Savior from sin and death.

Fully God and fully man, Jesus, “though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men,” as Philippians 2:6-7 says.

No one is good

We can easily deceive ourselves into thinking we are good or someone we know is good or a leader is good.

But the Scripture is clear on this point that no one—not even one person—is good; all of us fall far short of the glory of God.

Death and life

This past weekend has been a roller coaster with my husband Brad’s grandmother passing away and my younger brother’s wife giving birth.

Solid ground

There are any number of misleading ideologies circulating our culture today from the highest levels of government to the smallest towns.

In this column, I would like to focus on our solid foundation.

As a believer, the standard by which I live is based on the foundational, unchanging Word of God.

Hope

We have a limited time on this earth filled with troubles, trials and tribulations.

Yet there is hope in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died on a cross for all of the sins of those who seek Him in repentance.

One of my more recent favorite songs is “His Mercy is More” by Matt Papa.

Family

God designed the family.

Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

God created both male and female in His image.

As a result, every living person has value—from the tiniest baby in the womb to the oldest individual on earth.
