Under construction

If you’ve driven in downtown Greer recently, you’ve seen plenty of construction.

Greer First Baptist Church is renovating its roof while the Greer Depot is getting restored to its historical look.

In addition, streetscape, hotel and parking garage projects are in progress.

Under new management

When leadership changes, a time of adjustment often follows.

Depending on the new authority in place, reactions may vary from distrusting the new lay of the land to embracing every new endeavor. Often, discernment lies somewhere in between.

Prayer

When someone we love is hurting, we can often feel helpless.

Yet we who believe know the One who spoke the world into existence and who is still presently involved in day-to-day life.

We may not see His hand in the pandemic or other struggles, but He is here.

Peace

Peace is found in Jesus Christ alone.

John 16:33 says, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

What are “these things” that Jesus said to His disciples before this statement?

Life changing

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God—the standard of perfection.

Living in this fallen world, every one of us—created in the image of God—is born a sinner in need of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Repentance, which is turning away from sin, sets a new course for life.

Kind words

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Kind words can brighten any day for anyone.

It is encouraging every time I hear about someone praying for me, being uplifted by something I have shared or having their faith strengthened by truth.

In contrast, negative words can make us doubt everything.

Responsibility

Where there is freedom, there is responsibility.

Responsibility is defined as the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone.

Without each of us taking responsibility for our own actions, we get tyranny, which is cruel and oppressive government or rule.

Adapting

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Many of us are adapting to a new way of life.

While many of my daily activities have remained normal during COVID-19, every time I enter the public arena I am reminded of what has happened.

I now spend more time inside, attending Zoom meetings and interacting mainly via email and phone.

Eternity

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

One day, every one of us will die unless Jesus returns first. Pause with me for a moment to consider the two eternal destinations each of us will enter upon passing from this life into the next.

Revelation, the last book of the Bible, gives us a picture of heaven and hell.

Perspective

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

We are not the first to go through hard times.

History is filled with disease, disaster, distress, famine, failure, fear, trials, trouble, tribulation, and more.

From the very beginning, in Genesis chapter three, sin entered the world.
