Kaelyn's Korner

Marvel

Since marrying my husband Brad just over two years ago, I have learned a lot about the world of comics.

This past year, we re-watched all of the Avenger movies in preparation for last week’s release of “End Game.”

Brad and I purchased our tickets ahead of time and arrived half an hour early.

Easter

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.

We have victory over sin and death by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Saturday night, Brad and I drove to Simpsonville.

Our church holds a Question and Answer at one of the local downtown coffee shops for those interested in learning about the Bible.

Jesus is alive!

Hope is found in the truth of this statement: Jesus is alive!

Paul the Apostle says in 1 Corinthians 15:12, “Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?”

Paul, formerly Saul, at first persecuted followers of Jesus.

Palm Sunday

Growing up, I celebrated Palm Sunday with my family.

The Sunday before Easter, Palm Sunday takes note of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Many churches celebrate with palm fronds.

I remember celebrating with palm branches in Africa where my parents served as missionaries as well as back in the states.

Back roads

In general, I drive main roads, preferring the familiar routes that I have traveled many times over as opposed to unfamiliar territory.

Nevertheless, my husband Brad and coworker Julie have expressed their preferences for back roads.

When we travel together, Brad will often take shortcuts.

Trials

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Trials come in many different ways.

One of those is sickness, which seems to be prevalent this year.

This past weekend, my husband Brad came down with a nasty cold, which kept him at home.

Hardships—small or great—come to all of us.

Spring

Spring is in the air!

After months of wet or cold, the warm air as well as sunshine is a welcome change of pace.

This past Saturday, my husband Brad and I painted a small porch.

We packed up our new-to-us van with the necessary paint, brushes, rollers, pans and water bottles.

St. Patrick’s Day

My family has often worn green and eaten the traditional foods for this holiday. One year, my mom mentioned our heritage, sharing about the copy of the Irish Blessing Prayer that my parents have.

Lent

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter.

While I have never officially followed Lent, I agree with the general principles of repentance, fasting and preparation any time of the year.

Born sinners, we are all in need of repentance.

Shift

Kaelyn Cashman's picture

Since its founding over 200 years ago, America has been governed by Judeo-Christian values. Those values, however, have been shifting over last few decades.

With the Bible and prayer removed from schools, today’s students are not getting the same foundation.
